The West High Exceptional Teacher Award is presented to teachers who have demonstrated an extraordinary contribution to the preparation of students for life after graduation; including intellectual accomplishment, community contribution, social integration, and personal motivation.

Requirements
- The distributee organization has carried out its stated mission in Alaska for a continuous period of at least five (5) years.
- Distribution shall not be made to organizations engaged principally in the delivery of medical services or engaged in medical research.
- The distribution organization is a qualified charitable organization under IRS code 501(c)(3).
